Overview

This mobile application developed for BlackBerry is an all-purpose file and directory manager designed to provide BlackBerry device users an easy way to organize, and manage their files and directories on the Web Server. This includes files and directories they share to other users and files and directories that are shared to them. In addition to accessing their server folders and contents, they can also manage a local directory of files stored on their device.

Document Server can be accessed from anywhere in the world as long as the phone can connect to the Internet using either a GPRS or WiFi connection.

  • Document Management
    User can manage files and directories on the server from the mobile client. User may create, delete, and rename directories. User may check-in and check-out document, assign tags and open documents directly from the server for reading. Document types could be anything such as audio, video, images, text files, formatted documents, spreadsheets and much more.

    Several features are provided for ease of access to documents such as recently accessed and recently shared documents, document listing using assigned tags, grouping by document types, user defined projects etc.

  • Document Sharing
    User can share directories and files with other individual users of the system or user groups. Permissions may be managed like a regular document server. Projects may be defined to group documents. Users may view the documents from the server or download them to the phone.
  • Documents can also be forwarded using phone features such as email, MMS, and Bluetooth. Links to the documents on the server can also be sent out via Email or SMS.

    The application provides an extremely user friendly interface using toolbars, search filters, informative icons and more. This makes navigation through the application very easy and helps locate required documents with minimal effort.

    Password based authentication mechanism is provided for secured access to the server. Standard encryption mechanisms are used to communicate passwords and other sensitive information over the Web.
  • Personalization
    Users can personalize GUI based on their preferences for colors, languages, number of items to list in a page and more. Preferences are saved to the server and are applied whenever the user uses any mobile device.
